On August 26th, 2020 Lucky Dog Animal Rescue teamed up with the Petco Foundation, Wings of Rescue, and Houston PetSet to coordinate a massive airplane evacuation in advance of Hurricane Laura, evacuating more than 130 cats and dogs from the storm’s path. This lifesaving transport ensured that each animal on board not only survived the storm but also would find loving forever homes.

When Mr. and Mrs. Grant Verstandig agreed to sponsor a relief flight from Puerto Rico to save 62 dogs and cats with no local adoption options, Lucky Dog had 3 days to pull a flight together! Donors dropped off essential supplies for our Puerto Rican partners staff packed a Penske van with over 700 lbs worth of crates and food (hard to find on Puerto Rico right now). Two staff members drove 10+ hours on Thursday to Nashville to load a jet chartered through Ryan Aviation Group.
