Journey Into Rescue - Josiah & Shelley

My Journey Into Rescue began after Hurricane Harvey, and soon afterward Tropical Storm Irma. I saw countless posts on the news about pets in need of homes after the disasters. My family and I had never fostered a dog but had always had dogs of our own. We currently have two small male dogs who love to eat, play, and snuggle together and we knew that other dogs would LOVE to join them so we saw no other option than to begin fostering.

Since beginning fostering, I have had "Josiah" and "Shelley." Adding another male dog to our house was an interesting experience because they all competed to be the alpha male. Because of this, we fostered Shelley so that our dogs would not feel the same way as before. We plan to foster in the future because it is such a rewarding experience.

People often ask me how I can foster dogs and not get to adopt them all. While it is difficult to give them up after fostering them for a short time, I always know that they are going to a home where they will receive unconditional love. Also, there is an unexplainable and unparalleled feeling foster families get after their dog has been adopted. As a result, fostering and/or adopting a Lucky Dog is a rewarding experience I would recommend to ALL.
