Lucky Dog Flies Over 60 Rescue Dogs And Cats From Puerto Rico To DC In Partnership With SouthWest Airlines!

This Saturday, January 20th, 2018, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and Southwest® delivered more than 14,000 lbs of humanitarian supplies to animal rescuers in Puerto Rico and retured to the DC area with more than 60 dogs and cats who survived Hurricane Maria. This is in addition to the more than 10,500 lbs of supplies the partners have already sent to San Juan via Southwest AirlinesCargo®.

“We are incredibly grateful to Southwest for partnering with us to make this flight a reality,” said Mirah Horowitz, Executive Director and Founder of Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. “This flight literally saved lives – both of the animals who were transported to DC as well as to those who remain on the island and need the supplies we brought.

“The devastation that Hurricane Maria caused the communities of Puerto Rico is heartbreaking,” said Linda Rutherford, Southwest Airlines Chief Communications Officer. “Our Employees were eager to lend a hand in bringing relief to San Juan by partnering with DC-based animal organization, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, and Puerto Rico Animal Relief organization, PR Animals, in transporting dozens of impacted animals to the DC area in hopes of finding their forever homes.”
