Hurricane Harvey Survivors Need Our Help!

UPDATE: This weekend, Lucky Dog welcomed in 88 animals impacted but Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

At 11 am yesterday, 13 dogs arrived from Texas -- shelter dog survivors of Hurricane Harvey who had no homes before the storm -- and even less chance after the storm.

At 2:30, more than 50 dogs came in from Florence, South Carolina.  Because their shelter is a state evacuation site, we needed to move dogs out so that dogs impacted by Irma in the southern and coastal parts of the state would have a place to go.  25 evacuation dogs were brought in just after ours moved out.

And, finally, at 10pm we welcomed the last load of dogs - evacuees from Jacksonville Florida.

Our volunteers, our fosters, everyone showed up to make this work.  And, because of the amazing team that is Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, all the dogs had a place to go for the night.  And, all the dogs attended our adoption event.

THIRTY THREE were adopted this weekend.  (And, fourteen "non-Hurricane" dogs were also adopted!) The rest are safe with boarding partners and fosters.

All of this was made possible because of your support!

Please, if you haven't already, consider donating to our ongoing hurricane relief efforts.

You've seen the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. The images of homes flooded. Lives ruined. Animals left behind.

It will only get worse before it gets better.

Knowing this, Lucky Dog has stepped in to help. We have committed to bringing 20-30 dogs to DC next weekend from the ravaged areas in Southeast Texas. We expect this first busload of animals to be one of many. And, we need your help to pull it off!

Please DONATE through our STRUT YOUR MUTT page. If we get into the ranks of top fundraising teams, we can win $10,000 more to help our cause!

Sitting thousands of miles away, it's easy to feel helpless in a situation like this. Watching the brave and selfless rescuers. The misplaced families. The animals in need.

We knew there had to be something our amazing team could do. So we reached out to shelters in the hardest-hit areas, and offered our help. We told them we would do whatever it takes to help them save animals from the rising flood waters. To free up space so they could continue to take in more.

And, knowing we can always count on YOU, we promised we would help pay for the transport to DC!

Please donate now through our Strut Your Mutt page. You can even join our team and help us raise funds to help animals in the flood-ravaged areas of Texas. Or share our social media posts. Every little bit helps.
