CLAUDIA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Claudia and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 14th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Kensington (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!
Name: Claudia Best Guess for Breed: Lab and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 3 years old as of Nov 2023 SEX: female
Approximate Weight: Approx 47 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs and cats! We haven’t seen Claudia with kids but she can be tested!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Claudia is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.
Claudia is Looking For: An amazing family to love her for life! Claudia came into the shelter, no fault of her own, and is ready to move north to the DMV. She hopes to see what all the fuss is about up here and take trips to the dog park, daily walks around town, and show off at obedience training. As a lab mix, Claudia thinks she might like to spend a day at the dog beach in the summer or roll around in the snow in the winter. Most of all, Claudia is hoping to find a loving home – so what do you say? Is Claudia the girl for you?
What My Foster Says About Me: She is GREAT with other dogs and absolutely loves them. She plays great with my Saint Bernard and seems to have a little crush on my male Frenchie. She is interested in my cats and will nudge her head to open to the door to their room - I've kept them separate because she is doesn't realize her size sometimes. Claudia is a tank on the leash so we are working on her pulling when she is excited and she could use a house training refresher, but she corrects easily and is SUCH a cuddle bug. She is a very different girl at home than when she is at the events and I really hope someone gives her the chance to show how great an addition she would be to any family!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
