Lucky Dog's April 2023 News!

To My Lucky Dog Family,

Do you ever wonder where you would be without your Lucky Dog or Cat? I do.

And, I find myself wishing I could subtract a year from her age every time someone asks me "how old is she?"

I know I can't be the only one. I hear so often what a profound impact owning a dog or cat has on members of our community. How much the addition of one special animal changes lives for the better.

That is why I am so passionate about what we do. Why we all work so hard to save lives -- both 4-legged and 2-legged. But, the honest truth is this: it's tough out there right now.

There are more dogs and cats, more kittens and puppies looking for homes than we have ever seen before. And, there is no objective reason for this. There is nothing "wrong" with these animals. Luck just hasn't gone their way.

I know you know there is a pet overpopulation problem. I'm sure you're tired of hearing me talk about it. But, I keep talking because we still need help. The animals still need saving.

We cannot do that without our volunteer adoption coordinators and foster families. We need people who can dedicate a few hours a week to talking to possible future Lucky Dog and Cat families about what it's like to bring a new pet home. We need people to agree to foster these animals so they have a chance at landing in a forever home. And, we need people willing to help out at -- and, yes, even plan -- our adoption events.

Yes, Lucky Dog does have some staff. But, our small and mighty staff cannot possibly accomplish all there is to do each and every day to save these lives. For that we need help. We need you. If you're interested in learning more about all our various volunteer opportunities, please email me!

Thank you on behalf of all our Lucky Dogs and Cats.
