Lucky Dog's August News

To My Lucky Dog Family,

About 2 months ago, I sent an email about this year's Strut Your Mutt, a crowd funding walk put on by Best Friends Animal Society to facilitate fundraising for organizations like Lucky Dog. Since that time, our team has had incredible success!

Fifty-Five people have signed up to raise mission-critical funds for Lucky Dog's homeless animals, and we're 1/3 of the way to our goal of raising $30,000!

Why is this walk so important to us?

The easy answer is that every dollar we raise saves lives. Every dollar we raise allows us to help a dog or cat currently living in an overcrowded shelter, a dog or cat whose only hope at a second chance is Lucky Dog.

But, it's not just the number of lives saved that is important. It's the ability to provide what is needed to those lives. The ability to save a dog like Bali even if they are heartworm positive. The ability to provide a leg amputation for a cat like Ciabatta in order to give her a pain-free life. The ability to treat puppies like Smidge and Squeak for parvovirus rather than just give up on them. The ability to find a dog like Suerte on the streets of Puerto Rico and treat a leg badly infected after multiple dog bites.

Intellectually, we all know that funding is critical to the ability to save lives. But, there is so much more to it. SO much more than just the numbers.

Raising funds through Strut Your Mutt is about keeping promises to the animals we rescue. It's about ensuring that each individual animal we rescue receives what he or she needs to live a happy and healthy life. Because that is the promise we make to them: that their life will get better from here on out.

As part of our Lucky Dog Family, you are a critical part of our ability to keep our promise to each and every Lucky Dog and Cat. Whether you adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate, you are helping us ensure that our animals receive everything they need to get their second chance!

If you'd like to walk with us -- or even join our team but not walk, now is the time! We still have two months of strutting. Two more months to raise the funds we need to help our Lucky Dogs and Cats. I can't wait to Strut with you!

Thank you on behalf of all the Lucky Dogs and Cats!
