Lucky Dog's February 2020 News!

Dear Lucky Dog Family,

Last weekend, we had a surprise visitor at our adoption event: Marty, a dog we rescued from a chain in a junk yard during Hurricane Dorian. His coat was shiny; his happiness infectious. His love for his new family evident in his adoring eyes.

I feel like we say it this all the time: the resilience of dogs and cats -- their capacity to forgive, to overcome the unspeakable -- is truly awe-inspiring. Marty lived in atrocious conditions. On a chain so short that it flipped him over when he first tried to greet us. Yet, after just a few short months of a loving home, you would never know he had spent any time under a rusted truck, out in the elements, without anyone to love him.

This is why we do what we do. Why we drive into a storm rather than away from it. Why we ask for the impossible and make the improbable a reality.

There are so many ways you can join our efforts. Help us be the safety net for dogs like Marty, who -- without Lucky Dog -- would still be living on a chain under a rusted truck at this very moment. You can foster for a night or a week. You can volunteer as a driver or handler at an adoption event. You can send a Valentine and share the love. You can even host your own fundraiser.

There are infinite ways that you can help. Infinite ways to save lives. One that we don't talk much about is actually one of the ways you can leave the biggest legacy and have a lasting impact: planned giving. No one likes to think about what will happen once they are gone, but the legacy you leave behind can continue to advance the causes you care so much about now. Can insure your own pets are well cared for. Can be a game changer for a nonprofit like Lucky Dog.

If you don't know where to start, we are here to help. You can read about our "Legacy of Love" options here, or, if you prefer, send us an email so we can talk about different options. We even have estate attorneys happy to assist!

Watching the transformation of dogs like Marty inspires us to keep going when the work gets overwhelming and difficult. When it seems like moving forward is just too hard. Having YOUR support behind us makes it possible to forge ahead. Please, consider including Lucky Dog in your legacy.

Thank you on behalf of all the Lucky Dogs and Cats,
