YUKON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Yukon        Best Guess for Breed:   Shepherd and lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of January 2024      SEX:  Male

Approximate Weight:  56 lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested.

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations:  Yukon is a truly Lucky Dog!  He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.

Yukon is Looking For:   His forever home! This sweet pup is pretty young and hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet. He's eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He'd love to make new pup and people pals along the way. Shelter staff say he's such a nice dog and still has that awesome loving puppy vibe.

Yukon has a lot to offer - adoring gazes, big tail wags, and loyal companionship. What do you say? Can you see him trotting by your side?

What My Foster Says About Me: He is SO sweet…..he’s got lots of puppy behavior (e.g. completely spatially unaware of himself in the funniest way). He’s amazing on the leash and seems to really get the concept of house training (no accidents, goes out and does his business without delay). He has been great with our dog. Lots of puppy energy but he’s also curious and willing to go into the crate for naps.  He really just wants to be where his person is, so he does get concerned when you leave the room or house; he will need some help getting used to that!  He is really such a love and is a very sweet and soulful boy.  With his puppy energy and inquisitiveness, he’ll do best in a home with structure, mental stimulation and exercise to keep on the right track!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
