Journey Into Rescue - The Story of A Lucky Puppy

It’s all still very much a blur. I arrived a few weeks ago from South Carolina. They put us in a loud machine for a long time and when we got out this big man picked us up and took us home. He calls me Zena – I have no idea what that means so don’t ask. Before I arrived at my new habitation, I had never been inside before. Although I now know the joys of naps and rugs, it was really confusing at first. I really like this soft sofa the humans call a “dog bed.”

I spend my days at this place with lots of dogs and even more toys, and my weekends riding into a car and arriving at what the human calls “events,” where I sit in a pen with lots of people who speak to me and pet me.

I come from a big family, but all my siblings left shortly after I arrived. I am told they were “adopted.” Being small and from a big family, I find living with the dog tenants of this place intimidating, but I am starting to get used to it.

Today, I learned “tag,” which consists of one of us going under the couch and the other dogs following to find me. I feel comfortable touching noses but don’t really know what I’m supposed to do next. Plus, the dogs my size tend to talk a lot, and I’m still learning what they want me to do. I know if I run around they will follow me, which is lots of fun.

I know there’s so much more to learn, and the humans are very patient with me and the dogs I live with are very eager to teach me. I’ll finish this nap first and then try again.
