Lucky Dog's Puerto Rico Charter Saved 62 Lives & Brought Critical Supplies to Animals in Need

When Mr. and Mrs. Grant Verstandig agreed to sponsor a relief flight from Puerto Rico to save 62 dogs and cats with no local adoption options, Lucky Dog had 3 days to pull a flight together!  Donors dropped off essential supplies for our Puerto Rican partners staff packed a Penske van with over 700 lbs worth of crates and food (hard to find on Puerto Rico right now). Two staff members drove 10+ hours on Thursday to Nashville to load a jet chartered through Ryan Aviation Group. Early Friday, Team Lucky Dog headed for San Juan, Puerto Rico, where supplies were unloaded and animals were put on board. With crates loaded into every available seat on the plane -- and two extra large pups riding at the feet or our staff, these animals made their freedom flight to DC to be welcomed by fosters, adopters and volunteers at Dogma Dog Bakery in Arlington. We are incredibly grateful to the fosters, adopters, donors and sponsors who made this transport possible -- especially to our flight sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Verstandig.
